Week 1- 26 August

Introduction - What are we doing this semester?

CU Science Update topic overview - writing proposals, treatments and focus statements

Equipment Overview - it will be important for everyone to know what belongs in the equipment bags, how to pack them, how to check them out. Go over equipment policies.

E-Portfolios - you will need to make sure you have an e-portfolio set up by next week

Intro to Canon XF300

  • Tripod operation
  • Focus and Focussing
  • Aperture, Exposure, and Depth of Field (bokeh and contre jour)
  • Steadying the Camera
  • Types of Shots – importance of the close-up
  • Rule of Thirds
  • Finding depth - how to make a good shot more interesting
